Hello friends!
Another quarter passed too quickly (as is the Montana Summer!). Molly and I have found ourselves fully immersed in a season of transitions. Yes, plural. Summer has been busy: full, fun, and a little dizzying 😊
As you might remember we headed to Kona Hawaii to the YWAM University of the Nations campus, teaching 2 weeks of leadership development and training to the DTS leaders and staff of this Fall quarter. We had a great time. We were able to go very deep with a large group of amazingly committed people, of various ages, cultures and nationalities. Developing people to make disciples of others and launch them into the nations and communities is a passion we both carry.
From there it was back to MT where I was immediately helping to lead an International DTS Center Training Workshop with 100 staff from 20 different DTS’s within the United States and Canada. Then back into teaching in our own Montana DTS, while Molly helped Eden make her final preparations to leave for college. She is attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and is our last one to head out into the world. While exciting for her, our newfound independence as parents has taken a little bit of getting used to: we miss our kids! Eden has been a rock star navigating this transition. Three weeks before departing she was informed by the college of a massive reduction in financial aid (very poor form by them IMHO). This resulted in some heart searching by her about her choice of schools and how to spend the coming year. Ultimately she went through with it, seeking the Lord, wisdom of others, and lots of prayer. She is glad she went.
Joel is back home with us working in the community while finishing his last course (online) needed to graduate with his Bachelor’s degree. It’s fun having him with us for the time being. He is a great guy and on the precipice of some big decisions for his future. He recently shared with students on campus on his experiences witnessing to Mormons and we were a little proud 🙂
Big news from OKC (Oklahoma City, for our non-American friends)… while Wilder is getting bigger and even cuter, Samuel and Kinley are pregnant with grandbaby #2! A little girl will arrive mid-December! Sam is a third-year electrical apprentice now and a very hard worker.
This weekend we welcomed 130 new students to campus! It is so exciting to have these amazing young people here to go deep with Jesus and serve him in our valley and in the nations. We get to be involved in teaching and training both students and staff here, which is always a huge privilege.
Additionally, Fall is shaping up to include more travel for both of us together. While I still have some on my own (Jer), I always prefer having Molly with me! Together we make a good team. Beyond this Molly is navigating her own work transition now that the Leadership change here in Montana is complete. She has several invitations, as well as other personal ministry interests in mind. You may have heard that we were anticipating a couple of months in Cambodia later in the year. Unfortunately those plans couldn’t quite come together this September.
